Rebecca Forwood is the founder and sole owner of The Fishwives. She was born in Melbourne to an Australian mother and a Hong Kong Chinese father. In 1990 whilst living in Hong Kong, her mother and aunt set up a small business called The Fishwives, bringing a monthly shipment of fresh NZ King Salmon into Hong Kong.
Also passionate about good healthy food, Rebecca took over the business in 1998 and in 2000 brought it to Singapore. There was nowhere to buy good quality fresh fish or meat from Australia or New Zealand. and the 'no nasties' ethos was unexplored and mostly unavailable. Over the years whilst raising her family, Rebecca researched and explored the best fresh food available for export into Singapore that met her strong ethos of containing absolutely no additives (such as growth enhancers, antibiotics, vaccines and metals), and so the business grew with every new product.
The Fishwives has grown from a small business operated from home to a successful online and shop front food emporium complete with its very own cool truck delivering 6 days a week island wide.
Francie Gremillion is our new Senior Retail Operations Manager and brings with her a wealth of experience in the retail industry. Recently arriving from Texas, she started her Singapore life at the beginning of CV-19 so hasn't had a chance to explore our exciting country yet! Francie will be based at our Cluny Court shop and is there to help you with whatever you need and I'm sure would love some local tips on what to do in Singapore when the restrictions are eventually lifted!
Kimmi Oh is our Warehouse Operations Manager who works tirelessly to ensure all our deliveries and online orders are executed smoothly. Kimmi has worked for Rebecca for over 15 years and knows the business inside out - from unloading salmon shipments and packing chicken, to looking after customers and ordering our stocks, she mucks in where ever and whenever she is needed. Kimmi is a single parent raising 3 young children and has just completed her Bachelor of Business Degree - this lady never stops!
Kris is our terrific talented butcher starting his Singapore career at the famous The Swiss Butchery many years ago he makes a mean wagyu burger and his lamb kofta's are to die for! Go and have a chat to him and he will cut you any size Ribeye, Porterhouse or Eye Fillet you'd like!
Salinah Jaffar is our longest serving staff member and was one of the original staff in our first shop! Having taken a year off to look after her health, we are thrilled that she's back in the shop and so are our customers. Salinah is a mum of two lovely kids and is a sensational cook - make sure you ask her for a few tips and suggestions when you're in the shop.
Stephanie Ow is our newest member of staff and is in charge of all our accounting, HR and Office/Shop related issues! Apart from being a super accountant, Stephanie is also a mum and a very keen cook! You may also see her behind the register occasionally so do say hello!
Gee is our wonderful caring mama of the group! She always has a smile on her face and a friendly greeting for everyone. Gee loves animals, especially Cats and has lots of them at home! Nothing is ever too much trouble for Gee and we love having her on our sales team!
Normeh hails from just over the Malaysian border, and has worked
in the Singapore food retail scene for over 18 years. Normeh has
a gorgeous daughter and loves spending her spare time with her
on her days off.
