Red Gurnard, these are a lean, firm, white-fleshed, prehistoric looking fish found in abundance in New Zealand waters. Gurnards live on the seabed and use their fins to find the crab, fish and shrimps that live in the sediment. These fish are 100% wild caught & are fully skinned & de-boned.
Suitable for baking, battered, BBQ, curry & chowder, but in our opinion is best when dipped in seasoned flour then pan-fried in an olive oil / butter mix over a medium heat for 2/3 minutes on each side
IF THERE IS A GOOD CATCH, WE WILL RECEIVE FRESH GURNARDS ON SATURDAY/SUNDAY. THESE WILL BE FROZEN AFTER 3 DAYS TO MAINTAIN FRESHNESS AND GIVE YOU 2 DAYS OF SHELF LIFE UPON THAWING.
