Curly Flat Vineyards - 2016 Pinot Noir
Curly Flat has been one of Australia's long time favourite Pinot Noirs and we've keenly observed the reputation of this Macedon Ranges winery continue to soar. The 2017 vintage marks the 20th vintage of Curly Flat Pinot Noir released and this is another epic Australian Pinot Noir befitting this milestone.
"96 Points. Entices immediately with heady aromas, all spiced cherries, pips, warm earth, autumn leaves and borage. But the palate is the clincher. Glossy yet fine tannins, graceful, lithe and long. Lovely wine. Screwcap. 13.3% alc. To 2029." - Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2020.
"95+ Points. The main thing I like here, is that there’s an earthy/mineral thing going on that sets it apart from the pack. Cherry, strawberry, spice, mint, autumnal, yet still bright with cranberry acidity, wonderful graphite tannin, a coolness and composure without compromising this sort of salt-of-the-earth integrity thingy. Finish is pure and mineral infused, with insistent tannin pushing it long. Fair to say I think this is very good, with more to come. Tasted: Jul19 Alcohol: 13.3% Price: $52 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2020 - 2032+" - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
Light colour, but packed with flavour. On the nose: aromatic red fruits, maraschino cherries, but with earthy, forrest floor notes also.
Savoury, herbal notes also present. The same on the palate - juicy, mouthfilling with notable tannin structure and high acidity. Very drinkable now, but with great cellaring potential. Very good with food.
