From the pristine clean high country of NZ, Temana lamb is like no other lamb. The sheep are raised in New Zealand’s iconic hill and high country. Just 17 committed founding farmers were carefully chosen to raise these animals on their remote South Island stations.
The unique combination of new breed, rearing location and conditions, farming practices and finishing grazing on chicory herb pastures for 30 days, has led to naturally high levels of healthy Omega-3 and polyunsaturated fats.
Over 500 genetic lines were tested to find the best – and one ram stood out – Ram 211.
His offspring thrive in the high country and comprise the first essential component in the rigorous new standard that is TE MANA LAMBTM. Each year, 80 new sires are tested, and the very best enter the elite breeding programme.
